NALSA Verdict
Decided on 15th April 2014, National Legal Services Authority v. Union of India is a landmark judgement of the Supreme Court of India, which declared transgender people the 'third gender', affirmed that the fundamental rights granted under the Constitution of India will be equally applicable to them, and gave them the right to self-identification of their gender as male, female or third gender.

IDAHOBIT
On 17th May, 1990 - The World Health Organization removed from the Classification of Diseases and Mental Health Problems. International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT) celebrates LGBTQIA+ people globally, and raises awareness for the work still needed to combat discrimination.

LGBTQ Pride Month
Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Pride Month is celebrated annually in June to honour the 1969 Stonewall riots, and works to achieve equal justice and equal opportunity for the LGBT community. The Stonewall uprising changed the trajectory of LGBTQIA+ rights worldwide.

Section 377 Verdict
After decades of grassroot activism, the colonial origin Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code was partially struck down by the Supreme Court of India on 06th September, 2018; thusby decriminalizing homosexual activities between consenting adults.

Asexual Awareness Week
An asexual person experiences little to no sexual attraction or intrinsic desire to have sexual relationships. Unlike abstinence and celibacy, which are both choices to avoid sex, asexuality is an innate part of who someone is. Asexual Awareness Week hopes to raise awareness about asexual persons and recognizes their existence.

Intersex Awareness Day
Intersex Awareness Day highlights the human rights issues faced by intersex persons. It also calls for action to end shame, secrecy and unwanted genital cosmetic surgeries on intersex children. The Indian state of Tamilnadu has banned unnecessary surgeries on intersex babies in 2019 although a nationwide ban is yet to be put into action.
13 - 19 November
Transgender Awareness Week
Transgender Awareness Week, is a one-week observation leading up to the Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDoR). It memorializes victims of transphobic violence that still occurs worldwide.
20 November
Transgender Day of Remembrance
The Transgender Day of Remembrance is an annual observance on November 20 that honours the memories of transgender persons whose lives were lost in acts of anti-transgender violence. The day draws attention to the continuing violence endured by trans persons.
